Special Programs

All Trinity Charter School (TCS) campuses are located on the grounds of a secure residential treatment center. Students are offered individualized academic and behavioral supports. It is a goal of TCS to enable the students to gain the necessary skills that they need in order to return to a less restrictive environment.

The TCS school programs include: diagnostic and accelerated instruction, progress monitoring, low student/teacher ratios, opportunities for dual enrollment, distance learning, student goal setting, credit recovery, intense behavior management interventions, therapeutic support, recreational activities, access to a psychiatrist, and medication monitoring. Tutorial, remedial and compensatory education is provided, as needed.

To qualify for Special Education, students must have been evaluated in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004 (IDEA), and have a diagnosed disability. The parent/guardian, school or agency working with the student may make referrals for Special Education.

Special Education services are offered to students with disabilities at no cost to parents. Individual Education Plans are followed to address the unique needs of children with disabilities. Related services may include speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and adaptive physical education, as required.

For specific information regarding Special Education services at Trinity Charter School, as well as the established procedures in the process of Child Find, contact: Jenny Peterson.

Special needs of students are addressed through: Section 504 and LPAC committees; Title I services; programs for students with Dyslexia; services for students needing English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction; and ARD/IEP Committee meetings for identified Special Education students.
