Course Offerings

Trinity Charter School campuses offer a variety of courses that include basic core courses and electives for the grades each campus is licensed to serve.

Upon enrollment in the school, students participate in SCANTRON pre-assessments in language arts, reading, math, science and social studies. The results are used to place students in appropriate, flexible groups and to design individualized learning objectives to close learning gaps.

Course offerings are designed to follow the TEA curriculum choices and include core courses as well as electives, which vary somewhat, depending on the campus and grade level, but include such options as creative writing, health, PE, theater arts, cheerleading, gardening, social skills training, and anger management. Students attend sessions for credit recovery and SAT preparation. They also go on educational field trips.

In addition, students work individually on specific credit recovery programs using Plato and/or Odysseyware software. Credit is awarded upon successful completion of the course.

IEPs will be followed for any student with special needs enrolled in a CTE class.

The student to computer ratio is 2:1, which exceeds the state recommendation. The average class size is ten students.

Learning continues beyond the academic day into afternoon, evening, and weekend SAIL (Supervised Accelerated Individualized Learning) activities that support the classroom instruction. Under the SAIL program, students receive regular, targeted, individualized instruction and computer assisted tutoring.

Curriculum
The curriculum of Trinity Charter School is based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Each student’s individual educational goals are developed with the goal of preparing the student to achieve mastery of the TEKS.

In utilizing both traditional classroom instruction and the individual extended learning opportunities that comprise the SAIL program, Trinity reinforces student comprehension and mastery in a manner that enhances student performance. The SAIL program is an individualized program that operates in the evening and on weekends during the school year, on holidays, and during the summer intermission.

Special Programs
Trinity Charter School offers tutorial, remedial and compensatory education. However, TCS services are offered within a secure residential setting.

All students are served on campus and provided individualized academic and behavioral interventions designed to address academic and behavioral issues in order to return the student to a less restrictive setting as soon as possible. (Unaccompanied refugee minors are supported at the Bokenkamp campus, which offers English as a Second Language and/or bilingual education as appropriate.)

In addition, the special needs of students are addressed through 504 and LPAC committees, Title I, Dyslexia, ESL, and Special Education. You may view information regarding Special Education services by visiting the Legal Framework link.
